Best Foldable Exercise Bikes With Comfortable Backrests

Thinking of getting an exercise bike for your apartment or home gym but want it to actually be comfortable? You know a bike that doesn't make you feel like you are sitting on a bag of rocks but rather somewhat comfy so that you can actually exercise without back problems lol.

It’s got to be great at saving space, easily movable, and still strong enough to get the job done. In that case, a foldable exercise bike is what you need, and you’ll be out of the woods as far as the need for exercise in cramped spaces goes.

Here’s the catch, finding that ideal bike can be easier said than done, especially if you’re also quite tight on budget. I found out the hard way when looking for an exercise bike for my own backyard home gym. But you’re in luck, as I scouted for the best foldable exercise bikes with comfortable backrests so you won’t have to.

If you’re on the hunt for that awesome exercise bike but you don’t have the money to burn, then go ahead and make your choice. These are the best bang for buck bikes, so for those in search of an expensive one with all the bells and whistles, I’d say look further afield.

This one here is the one that I got. It's dirt cheap and extremely comfortable.

EXERPEUTIC EXERWORK 2000i Bluetooth Folding Exercise Bike

The EXERPEUTIC EXERWORK 2000i Bluetooth Folding Exercise Bike Is our pick for the best foldable bike with backrest

MY Personal Review for This Bike

The combination of this bike's magnetic resistance mechanism and the steel construction makes Exerpeutic Exerwork 2000i hands down one of the best choices you can get out there. It not only gives you a great value with the reliable, quiet mechanism, but the stout frame can also take quite a beating over the years from daily use as well as being moved around.

With up to 24 workout programs and a free app, you can always stay on the top of your game with this one, and if you feel you deserve even better, then you can’t go wrong with the Bluetooth connectivity. This much-welcome addition is sure going to make the use of your bike as fun, and convenient, as it gets.

Portability & Comfort

One of the great things about this bike is not only how comfortable it is versus the others but just how portable and easy this exercise bike is to fold up and store away.

Of course, the folding design is onboard to help you save as much space as possible, but that doesn’t mean this bike is a flimsy, wobbly knock-off. It can stand a serious weight of up to 400 pounds, making it ideal for both average adults and those slightly on the plus side.

And the laundry list of great features doesn’t end there, this bike also sports an upgraded 2.5 LCD for tracking the distance, calories burned, odometer, speed, time, scan, and resistance level.

Speaking of the resistance levels, you have up to 24 of those to choose from, giving you a diverse workout.

What I Like About the Bike

This bike has a lot going for it, but what I liked most is the upgraded airsoft seat, with a 4-way adjustable capability so you can turn it around to find that sweet spot. And yes, it has an adjustable backrest too, with positions to choose from for the best comfort during long workouts. Seriously, you can sit in it all day, when it comes to bikes with back support this one is an amazing pick.

FitDesk Bike Desk 3.0 –Folding Stationary Exercise Bike

FitDesk Bike Desk 3.0 –Folding Stationary Exercise Bike Is Our Second Choice When It Comes to best foldable exercise bikes with backrest

MY Personal Review for This Bike

Here’s another bike I couldn’t help but notice, especially with the adjustable height feature making it stand out since it could be adjusted to fit the size of different family members or friends. But that isn’t the unique thing about it, it also sports an inbuilt table holder that can be handy when using this bike at home or in the office.

The non-slip table surface is ideal for your laptop or a tablet, and there’s a tilt-top holder for your tablet or mobile phone, as well as a storage option for your earphones, a smartwatch or fitbit armband and other personal effects.

I’d be doing it injustice if I don’t mention the magnetic resistance mechanism (with 8 resistance levels,) which is great for working out your legs and helping you in building bigger quads (more than you ever would with wall-sits or squats or similar workouts) while delivering a very quiet operation. You won’t have to stir up altercations with others in the house or neighbors next door when working out.

At a maximum weight capacity of 300 pounds, you can comfortably and confidently sit on this bike, unless you’re on the heavier-than-normal side. And while at it, you can’t help loving the solid powder-coated steel frame and a strong base, which is going to serve you for a long time.

With its digital display onboard, keeping an eye on your speed, calories burned, lifetime distance, and other essential information isn’t going to be a struggle. And yes, the comfortable seat and the backrest can’t go unnoticed either.

What I Like About the Bike

After sifting through all the bells and whistles, I zeroed in on a few unique features of this bike like the resistance bands located under the seat, which allow you to pull off some toning upper body workouts working both your hands as you pedal away - great for those looking to work their biceps and triceps the same day.

Then there’s the adjustable arm support, which further doubles as arm massage rollers that keep your arms in the game throughout your workout session.

Original As Seen On TV Slim Cycle Stationary Bike

Original As Seen On TV Slim Cycle Stationary Bike Is a Great Pick for a foldable bike with backrest

My Personal Review for This Bike

Get this recumbent position spin bike and save yourself those hectic traffic hold-ups on your drive to the gym. Instead, bring the gym, along with some workout comfort, into your home with the low-impact seat design that lets you sit in a comfy and less stressful position and cycle away to increase your metabolism and burn extra calories.

The upright sitting position is not just comfortable, it’s also good for your back. Then you have up to 8 resistance levels to choose from, allowing you to set the right level that will best challenge your muscles to get the most out of your workout.

The inbuilt arm resistance bands are a much-welcome addition to help you make the most of your workout session. As you pedal away with your feet, these allow you to tone the arm muscles too. Talk about multi-workout.

Then there’s the folding design, which is awesome for saving on space as you can always fold away your exercise bike after a workout and set it aside to create room for other workouts. Better yet, the slim design makes it perfect for apartments or home gyms without much space to go on.

It’s a nice little cardio machine that packs in virtually all you need while still falling within the bracket of the most affordable cardio machines in town.

What I Like About the Bike

Besides all the perks you get with this bike, the one bit that makes it the go-to option for me is an included library with 10 on-demand virtual rides. And this comes at no extra cost to you, all you have to do is download the Slim Cycle app for free, and you have access to instructors to help with your workout journey.

Lanos Folding Exercise Bike

Another Great foldable bike with backrest is the Lanos Folding Exercise Bike

My Personal Review for This Bike

This bike is not just comfortable, it also amps the workout up some with up to 10 resistance levels, making it a great choice if the above 2 bikes aren’t cutting it for you. The magnetic resistance, as aforementioned, is awesome in that it works the hell out of your leg muscles, yet it’s as smooth as it is quiet in use.

Capable of supporting up to 300 pounds, it should easily take on your weight without any give or break.  Standing at 55.5 inches, it is high enough for anyone between 4’6” and 6’0” to use it comfortably. Whether it’s other family members or friends, anyone in this height range can have a go at it.

A large digital LCD monitor is hard to miss, in fact, it’s most probably the first feature you’ll notice. With this one on board, you can keep track of everything from calories burned, heart rate pulse, speed, time, distance in miles, and much more.

Then there’s a holder for your phone or tablet, but the really cool thing about it is the comfortable seat along with the cozy backrest. With these, you can spend as much time as you want on your bike without any stings or needles kicking in, and they help eliminate any soreness on your upper body muscles.

What I Like About the Bike

This bike is packed to the brim with great features, but the one thing I couldn’t miss for the world is the foldable X-frame design. With less space to go on in my home gym, the compact build of this bike really would save the day. And with handy transportation wheels, you can move it around without breaking a sweat; now that’s cool.

Another perk that caught my eye is the pulse rate sensors that are conveniently tucked onto the handlebars, so seamlessly they get the job done without you ever noticing they’re there.

BARWING Foldable Exercise Stationary Bike

BARWING Foldable Exercise Stationary Bike is another great foldable stationary bike that comes with back rest

MY Personal Review for This Bike

Nothing quite beats the combination of a solid steel bike with a smooth, silent magnetic resistance mechanism. Now, this is one such bike, which boasts a solid steel construction that allows it to support an impressive 300 pounds.

When it comes to the resistance, it offers up to 16 resistance levels to choose from, a great diversity of options here for working out your way up from beginner to advanced fitness levels. There’s no way you’re going to miss the X-type frame design, which delivers a remarkable combination of physical balance, stability and of course, helps with space-saving when it’s time to store it.

The ergonomic seat and backrest also have something to add to the overall experience you get with this bike. Barwing has not only thrown in some generous cushioning, but they have also made them adjustable, so you, or anyone else in the family, can set it to their liking.

With the LCD screen on board, you’ll hardly miss any vital information during your workout. Everything from distance, time, speed, calories burned as well as the odometer are easily accessible. It gets even better, as you also get a phone holder for keeping your handy handset device within reach while keeping your hands on the handles throughout your workout.

What I Like About the Bike

I loved virtually everything about this bike, but the 3-in-1 design comprising of the leg workout, resistance bands for an arm workout, and an ankle strap are just too good to pass on. With this bike, you get an all-around workout that you’ll be hard-pressed to find in most bikes out there.

PLENY 3-in-1 Total Body Workout

PLENY 3-in-1 Total Body Workout Is a great option for a foldable exercise bike with backrest

MY Personal Review for This Bike

The PLENY total body workout bike resembles the BARWING bike I’ve listed above in most ways, and it’s just as impressive. Thanks to its 300-pound capacity, this bike too is built for some serious weight, but it has other great features like the quiet and smooth magnetic resistance mechanism that makes it perfect even for home use.

And that’s not all, PLENY still went a mile further and designed this bike with up to 16 levels of resistance to give you a variety of workout intensities to match your increasing need for tougher a challenge.

The 3-in-1 experience is hard to miss, as you can change your bike into an upright, semi-recumbent, or as a full recumbent bike, it all boils down to what you feel like going with at any workout session. Not many bikes make it this far in terms of design.

This doesn’t come at the expense of space-saving design though, this bike is still very foldable. And besides, it sports a slim, sleek design that helps save on space even further. Now, moving it around doesn’t have to be a pain in the neck either, it has transportation wheels that make that easy.  But perhaps the best part is in the ease of assembly, which usually takes only a matter of minutes at max.

Above all, you can’t afford to miss the arm and leg resistance bands, with two for working the arm muscles, and leg resistance bands for your leg stretch workout.

What I Like About the Bike

Once you lay your eyes on this bike, there’s a hoard of bits and pieces to fall in love with, but with my main goal being to find a foldable, comfortable exercise bike, I took a particular interest in the high backrest design, which ensures enough back support. Also, the sufficiently cushioned seat is both comfy and adjustable, a nice touch that goes a long way to make your workout session fun too.

ADVENOR Exercise Bike Magnetic Bike

ADVENOR Exercise Bike Magnetic Bike is a great choice for a folded bike with backrest

MY Personal Review for This Bike

This bike is not just built for high performance, it’s also cut out for comfort, and the extra-large, fully padded PU seat says it all from first sight. What’s more, it too has an awesome backrest that lets you sit upright with the much-needed back support. Additionally, a rear handlebar makes it easy for you to support your upper body weight with your hands.

Enough of the comfort. When you dig deeper into what you can get out of this bike, the magnetic resistance mechanism pops right up. With its 8 resistance levels, you can choose the level that gives you the best challenge depending on your workout goals for the session.

Supporting 280 pounds, it might not have the capacity some of the other bikes I have listed above boast, but it still packs quite the punch, enough to support an average adult.

Another feature that blew me away is the enhanced upright stabilizer, which works along with the sturdy steel frame to give you solid support and balance when you really step on the gas.

Keeping an eye on your progress doesn’t have to be a far cry, the digital monitor on this bike is on standby to display such important stats of your progress as scan, distance traveled, calories burned, real-time heart rate, time, and speed.

What I Like About the Bike

The one thing about this bike that I loved the most is the non-slip pedals. These are pretty large to provide enough space for your feet, and they have safety straps for additional safety.   And yes, the straps are also adjustable so users with different foot sizes can use them stress-free.

XTERRA Fitness FB350 Folding Exercise Bike

XTERRA Fitness FB350 Folding Exercise Bike is one of the highly ranked folding exercise bikes with backrest

MY Personal Review for This Bike

Standing at 5.1 feet, this bike is just the right size for almost any adult user, but the size is just one bit among the array of its wide range of great features.

Unlike most other bikes I’ve listed here, this one sports a belt drive system. This outstanding drive mechanism comes with up to 8 levels of resistance, so you can set it right where you want it. Not to worry, setting the resistance is a snap, you have a large dial tension knob that you can use for that, a simple twist is all it takes.

The material is also worth mentioning, with its steel frame making it solid enough to support a great deal of weight, but the bike itself isn’t insanely heavy, luckily. Weighing just 32 pounds, it should be easy to move around if you ever have to. And yes, the X-frame design makes it easily foldable when needed, allowing you to create some more room if space isn’t on your side.

Then there’s the seat, where the aspect of comfort comes in. The seat on this one is not only large and padded, it’s also easily adjustable, so you can set it where you feel most comfortable. Moreover, you get a padded lower backrest offering the support and comfort you so much need for your back.

There’s also a 2” by 1” LCD window, where you can keep track of all the pivotal stats of your workout including speed, distance, calories, pulse as well as time.

What I Like About the Bike

Among all the exciting features of this bike, the 3-piece pedal crank stands out for me. This makes it not both great at performance and brings on board enhanced durability that you’ll need if you want a bike that can last you through the years.

MaxKare Upright Folding Exercise Bike

MaxKare Upright Folding Exercise Bike is an amazing pick if you are looking for a stationary bike with backrest

MY Personal Review for This Bike

From a brawny X-frame construction to a foldable, easily movable build, this bike is built for users who don't have the luxury of storage space and are in need of a space saving exercise equipment. Now, besides saving you on space, what else is in it for you?

A whole lot to be honest. First up, the magnetic resistance with up to 8 levels is a great benefit that will help you build your muscle strength from scratch. The setup itself is a breeze since this machine has a knob that you can easily turn to select the desired resistance.

Not forgetting, this design also ensures a smooth, quiet operation that won’t be waking up everyone else in the house during those early morning workouts.

With an LCD monitor at hand, you won’t have a hard time keeping track of your progress, everything will be right there for you to monitor. Also, with your hands on the handles, the bike tracks your heart rate and relays that information to you as well, so you can train safely but effectively.

The compact design of the bike, along with its inbuilt wheels, makes portability easier in case you need to move it around occasionally. Now, this doesn’t mean that the strength of your bike goes out the window, this little beast can still take on 265 pounds, although it weighs just 41 pounds with a slender shape.

What I Like About the Bike

I would say I like everything about this bike. But the one thing that stands above all is the 3-in-1 performance, which allows you to use your bike for more than just cycling on the upright bike. You can also take advantage of the low-impact cardio offered by the semi-recumbent and recumbent modes, all of which you can get with the turn of a knob. That's for you folks who love getting in some cardio after your workout sessions.

How I Decided to Include These Bikes

How I Decided to Include These Bikes

To pick these few options, I factored in several aspects that would bring the best out of your workout without taking up much real estate in your home gym (I have an incline treadmill and a rower, both of them take a huge space. Even adding something like an exercise bike or an elliptical would need some space).

If you are real tight on space, and still want to have a stationary bike, an elliptical and a treadmill, then I suggest picking one of the options above, and add the Stamina InMotion elliptical and the Nordictrack space saver treadmill and you'll be good to go.

Above all, I also kept an eye on the price tag, you don’t have to spend an arm to get a good workout bike, and these affordable yet great picks get the job done without punching a hole through your pocket.

FAQ About Foldable Exercise Bikes with Comfortable Backrest

Here are a few questions about foldable exercise bikes answered.

Are Foldable Exercise Bikes Any Good?

The answer is a resounding yes! Exercise bikes are some of the most used machines for homes and gyms with little space available — for obvious reasons. There’s nothing quite like getting the best of a low-impact workout, burn calories, and not have to worry about any sore muscles. That’s what you get with these bikes.

Need I say more? Well, how about you factor in the level of comfort you can get with a well-built exercise bike with a backrest that lets you maintain an upright sitting position? Another bike model that offers such great comfort is the recumbent, which is why it's rather easy to lose weight with a recumbent bike even as a beginner or when nursing an injury.

Then, of course, there are other benefits as the easy portability that allows you to fold them or move them aside after use to create space, real-time monitoring of your progress, and some even have extra features for training your arms too.

What Is the Best Foldable Stationary Bike?

If you are in for a foldable bike that will take your workout to the next level, then I’d say go with the EXERPEUTIC EXERWORK 2000i Bluetooth Folding Exercise Bike. This is the one I bought, and although it doesn’t have all the top-of-the-line features I’d get with a high-end purchase, it’s definitely the best bang for my buck.

From the crisp 2.5 display to the 24 workout programs, a free app, as well as up to 24 resistance levels to choose from, it’s a worthy bargain.

It’s built to merge performance and convenience into a nice little package that I can just pick up and move over to the corner to make way for some essential fitness workouts on the floor or leave some room for my standing punching bag. In my cramped gym, every inch counts, and having an easily movable equipment like this one is really a lifesaver.

What Is the Most Comfortable Exercise Bike?

Again, the EXERPEUTIC EXERWORK 2000i Bluetooth Bike takes the prize here. The airsoft cushioned seat, along with its adjustable backrest, work together to give you a great deal of luxury as you pedal your way to a healthier living. It’s a bike built for more than just performance, it’s designed and carved out to give you the best comfort possible.
